Styling for your Shoot
Where to start?
There are a few tips I like to give to clients when deciding what to wear because man can it be stressful sometimes! Here are several suggestions to help you prepare for your photoshoot:
- Be Comfy! Trust me if you're uncomfortable with what you're wearing, the camera can usually tell. Wearing flowy dresses, your favorite jeans, or just something with "movement", it all makes such a difference!
- Wear something that matches the season and the location! Wear layers if it's cold, and have bare feet for a beach session. One thing to make kids not want to do photos is if they are too cold, or uncomfortable.
- Don't be matchy-matchy; be complementary: Say goodbye to white tops and blue jeans, and hello to neutrals and earthy tones!
- Be careful with prints and patterns (avoid logos): Save a pattern for just one member of the family for your session, and use that pattern's colors in the other outfit choices.
- Invest in Yourself! If you're doing a family shoot, dress the rest of the family around you (mom). You're the focal point. *Lastly, if able, use your family shoot as an excuse to pamper yourself. Get your makeup, hair, nails done-treat yo' self! Let your confidence shine.
